Frozen: The Broadway musical officially opened on March 22nd, 2018 at the St. James Theater. The story mostly follows the plot of the film, with some changes made to the order of events to make the new songs and story flow better together. It features most of the songs from the film ("Frozen Heart" did not appear and "For the First Time in Forever (Reprise)" was replaced with "I Can't Lose You" in February 2020) with new songs written by Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez. The show closed on Broadway in May 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A U.S. tour began on November 10, 2019, and, after a pause due to the pandemic, repoened on September 9th, 2021 and continues to run. The original Broadway cast included Caissie Levy as Elsa, Patti Murin as Anna, Jelani Alladin as Kristoff, Greg Hildreth as Olaf, and John Riddle as Hans.
Anna & Elsa
The Anna & Elsa book series by Erica David contains 9 chapter books and follows some of Anna and Elsa's adventures in and around Arendelle between the events of Frozen and Frozen II. They are around elementary school reading level, but are still great reads even if you're an adult!
Novels
Amidst all the chapter books there are a handful of Frozen novels intended for older readers:
❄ A Frozen Heart by Elizabeth Rudnick details the events of Frozen while switching perspectives between Anna and Hans. It gives a lot of great insight into Hans' motivations and goals as well as Anna's thoughts and state of mind.
❄ Conceal, Don't Feel by Jen Calonita is part of Disney's Twisted Tales series, which imagines Disney films under different circumstances. In this story, after young Elsa hits Anna with her powers, Anna is sent away and the whole kingdom has their memories of her erased. This book has also been released under the title Let It Go.
❄ Forest of Shadows by Kamilla Benko takes place shortly before the events of Frozen II; a nightmare monster has been unleashed on Arendelle and Anna and Elsa must figure out how to stop it.
❄ Polar Nights: Cast Into Darkness by Jen Calonita and Mari Mancusi takes place two months after the events of Frozen II. A creature from a scary story comes back to life and Anna and Elsa must find the truth behind the tale before all of Arendelle's memories are gone.
❄ Dangerous Secrets: The Story of Iduna and Agnarr by Mari Mancusi follows the lives of King Agnarr and Queen Iduna from their first meeting to their deaths.
